Fort Aguada

Located on Goa's Sinquerim Beach, Fort Aguada was built by the Portuguese in the early1600s to protect themselves from the Dutch and Marathas. Overlooking the Arabian Sea, the fort was also used as a guidepost by European ships.

Basilica of Bom Jesus

A Goan church from 1605, the Basilica of Bom Jesus in Old Goa is a World Heritage Monument. The sacred relics of St. Francis Xavier, patron saint of Goa, are kept in the church. A public viewing of his body attracts pilgrims every decade.

Church of St. Anne

Dating back to the 16th century, the Church of St. Anne at Talaulin Iltias is dedicated to St. Anne - the Mother of Mary. Located on the right bank of the Siridao River, the church is well-known for its incredible architecture, which is mostly Indian with a European flair.

Church of St. Francis of Assisi

Comprised of a nave with three chapels, the Church of St. Francis of Assisi in Goa features a choir, two altars in the transept, a main altar, and a wooden statue of St. Francis of Assisi on a pedestal. What's more, there's a convent that's currently the home of an archaeological museum.

Reis Magos Church

Also referred to as Church of the Three Magi Kings, Reis Magos Church was built in 1555. At one time, it was a mission center of the Franciscan Order of Monks. The church, which was dedicated to St. Jerome, is believed to have been constructed on the ruins of an ancient Hindu temple.

Chapel of St. Catherine

Located to the west of the Church of St. Francis of Assisi, the Chapel of St. Catherine was built in the mid-1500s. It was actually constructed on the site of a former chapel that was raised to the state of a cathedral by Pope Paul III in 1534. It remained that way until the new chapel was built.
