History

Goa is nestled on the southwestern coast of India. It carries a rich history influenced by diverse cultures and traditions. Helmed by many rulers, including the Mauryas, Satavahanas, Chalukyas, and Kadambas, Goa came under the reign of the Delhi Sultanate in 1312. However, it later became a part of the Vijayanagara Empire and eventually ended up under the power of Adil Shahis of Bijapur. The Portuguese conquered the Bijapur Sultanate in 1510 and established colonial rule. Finally, in 1961, Goa was freed from Portuguese rule and became a state in India.
