History

Udaipur was founded by Maharana Udai Singh the Second in 1559. It replaced Chittorgarh to become the new capital of the Mewar Kingdom. In 1615, it came under the control of Mughal Emperor Jahangir. It remained the capital until 1818 when it came under British control. After independence, it was included under the state of Rajasthan.

Overview

Udaipur is known as the "City of Lakes" as it hosts seven lakes that are interconnected to each other within its boundaries. The city is roughly equivalent to metro cities like Mumbai and Delhi. The best time to visit Udaipur is from November to February. The temperature starts rising in March when the summer arrives and reaches its peak in May. July and August are prime times for rainfall, so travelling in these months can be avoided.

The 125m long aquarium houses over 150 species of fish, including Puffer Fish, Senegal Dragons, Archer Fish, and others. You can also feed the fish at the touch pool or visit the OMG Tank to experience underwater life without getting wet.
