Dona Paula Jetty
This is a very popular tourist spot by the sea off the shoreline about 9kms southwest of Panaji lying along the south side of the headland that lies between the estuaries of the Zuari and the Mandovi rivers as they merge with the Arabian sea.More
The name "Dona Paula" is reportedly derived from the name of the daughter of one of Goa's Portuguese Viceroys, who threw herself off the cliff after she was refused permission to marry a local fisherman with whom she fell in love.
Today it is a very popular tourist vista point that offers a view of Mormugao harbor and during summer, there is a service by boat from Dona Paula to Vasco da Gama across the bay.
By the ferry jetty, there is a whitewashed statue sculpted by Baroness Von Leister; aptly named "Image of India". It depicts a couple both facing opposite directions, the man towards the nations past and the woman towards the future.
Miramar Beach
Miramar Beach also known as Gaspar Dias is a lovely golden beach of soft sand griddled with palm trees facing the blue Arabian Sea, where River Mandovi meets the Arabian Sea and a thick grove of shady palms form a dense canopy over the area. The word 'Miramar' in Portuguese stands for viewing the sea.More
On account of its good location, the Miramar Beach of Goa is ideal for evening walks. The tourists can spend a nice time in the Palm shaded area that is quite captivating for the tourists visiting the beach.
The 2 km long coast boasts of fine, soft silvery sand bed that sparkle in the moonlight. From here one can have a panoramic view of the Aguada fort just across the Mandovi River. It also offers a captivating view of the well-preserved Portuguese fort across the river, known as Aguada Fort. Not much crowded, it offers peaceful surroundings and the much-desired solitude for those who want few moments of life away from the crazy crowd of the city.
Ruins of the Temple of Brahmapur at Ela Village
This reportedly was a colony of Brahmins that existed since ancient times. Tradition has it that it was founded by Madhava Mantri, one of the celebrated ministers of the Vijayanagar Empire. The temple of Lord Shiva under the name of Lord Goveshwar was venerated here. More
The Portuguese destroyed this temple during the early period of their conquest of Goa, along with thousands of other Hindu temples. During the brief spell in which inquisition was suspended in 1775 the worship of deity- Goveshwar was allowed to be renewed. But soon after, the Viceroy, Dom Federico Guillermo de Souza, destroyed the temple and the deity again on June 6, 1779 under orders from the Queen of Portugal.

This used to be a wing of the old Franciscan monastery and was converted to a museum in 1964. On exhibit are a selection of pre-colonial and post colonial artifacts. The main hall has at its entrance a huge statue of Alfonso de Albuquerque, that once stood in Old Goa and subsequently at the Azad Maidan in Panaji.More
It was removed after liberation to the museum. The other areas are the "Key Gallery", the " Portrait Gallery" and the "Sculpture Gallery". This used to be a wing of the old Franciscan monastery and was converted to a museum in 1964. On exhibit are a selection of pre-colonial and post colonial artifacts. The main hall has at its entrance a huge statue of Alfonso de Albuquerque, that once stood in Old Goa and subsequently at the Azad Maidan in Panaji. It was removed after liberation to the museum. The other areas are the "Key Gallery", the " Portrait Gallery" and the "Sculpture Gallery". The "key gallery" has among other things a statue of the famous Portuguese poet, Luis Camoes, holding a copy of "Os Lusíadas". This statue was also moved to the museum following liberation.
The " Portrait Gallery" occupies the first floor of the museum and has over sixty paintings of the Portuguese Governors and Viceroys that ruled Goa beginning with the first- Dom Joao de Castro( 1545-48 ) and other notables like Dom Vasco da Gama ( 1524) and the only Goan Governor, Bernardo Peres da Silva ( 1835 )and the longest serving governor, Jose Ferreira de Pestano ( 1844-51 and 1864-70). There is even a portrait of Portugal's right wing prime minister and dictator, Antonio Salazar.
The "Sculpture Gallery" contains some artifacts dating to the pre-colonial era. There are a lot of Stone sculptures and idols dating back to the Kadamba years and also a stone pillar brought from San Thome, Madras , the site of martyrdom of St Thomas.
Shree Shantadurga Temple, Fatorpa
This temple is situated at Fatorpa, 18kms from Margao. The deity is dedicated to Goddess Shantadurga, an incarnation of Goddess Parvati, consort of Lord Shiva.More
The deity originally came from Cuncolim in Salcette taluka and was moved to Fatorpa in the 16th century to escape the wanton destruction of Hindu temples during that time by the Portuguese.

Flanking this is a bird habitat and a rubber plantation from which rubber is extracted and processed. A giant size footprint, 'Big Foot'-the only designer dance floor in Goa is used as a venue for the promotion of art, dance, music and traditional culture.
Mayem Lake
This is is a cute little lake situated at Mayem near Bicholim, in Bicholim taluka, North Goa. It is about 35kms from Panaji. It is very popular with Indian tourists and there are boating facilities available on the lake. The GTDC has cottages in the area.
Church of Mae de Deus, Saligao
This beautiful church is located at Saligao about 13kms from Panaji en route to Mapusa. It was built in 1873 . The shrine of the Nossa Senhora Mai de deus was brought over from the ruins of the convent of Mae de Deus at Old Goa. It is a modern church and is built in gothic style.
Chapora Fort
Located on the Anjuna beach in Goa, the Chapora fort is one of the most popular tourist attractions of India. This massive fort is built out of red laterite stones and was constructed first by the ruler of Bijapur, Adil Shah. This is one reason why it has been named Shahpura, which means the 'town of Shah'.

One of the distinctive features of the Aguada headlands are the Lighthouses built as early as 1864 thereby marking them as one of the oldest and first lighthouses to be built in Asia. Earlier to this, ships were normally guided by bonfire beacons lit on the Hill of the Pilots above the Immaculate Conception Church at Panjim. The 1st lighthouse initially built served purpose right upto 1976 when it was replaced by a square, modern lighthouse located nearby the walls of the citadel. This one is open to visitors and it makes all the watching more enjoyable due to the scenic views one gets to see when he/she climbs up the spiral staircase with a metal ladder within the lighthouse.
